Watch Insurance
Curious if any of you insure your watches. And if so, can anyone recommend a good insurer?

I know that boxes can be annoying - demanding space and frequently ending up in an attic or some safe. But I was wondering what box and/or papers that have come with your watches which made you nod before putting them back in the outer box and storing them someplace out of the way?
For me I liked Omega's packaging. The wood style box looks pleasant and is a big improvement over the flakey faux leather red boxes of the past. But so far I have been really impressed with the two boxes that came with Breguet the wood looks beautiful. Documentation isn't so impressive.

Picked up a Breguet Marine Big Date in yellow gold off of chrono and it arrived today. I had an issue where the movement wouldn't start up with winding. i was shocked. But after a solid "shake" it started. I'm a bit worried (any thoughts on what that might mean?). It's keeping fine time for the past 24 hours. Anyway, I love the feeling and look of this one.

is this a good value? Is this a good movement? How much for service on the watch

Was looking at something they were selling on C24, but looks like they have an external site as well. Seem to be pretty new and only takes payment by wire which is fine but dont see any reviews for them and if they are legit.

Hopefully this type of question is ok here.

I've been looking at getting the black dial on bracelet recently and I'm confused with the secondary pricing. I see tons of listings on C24 but even from some dealers for this around $9.5k. This seems crazy to me if anyone is actually paying this on secondary market. I've been to multiple AD's who've offered me around this price brand new at the AD so just seems odd they are listing these so high.
My question is am I just wrong with my expectations or are these the actual prices for this now?

Hey Fed / FTW team,
just wondering about the possibility of buying a watch / paying for it from EU but having it delivered to an address in USA.
Are there any problems here? Does anyone care? Guessing that taxing is done in the US?
Thx,
best,
D

Hi Guys,
FTW Member's market is live! You can submit your watches by clicking sell your watch and when approved they will be listed in the member's market tab! These both live in the forum navigation bar under "Member Services". Please see the image in the post below.
Please also watch the video in sell my watch to see how the system works!

Here’s a fun topic (I think):
What watch were you wearing when a random person (not at a watch event) came up to you and said “I noticed your watch. What watch is it?” Or “is that a (brand of watch”?
I will start: it happened to me with a Glashutte Original Panomatic Lunar (“is that a Panomatic Lunar? I’ve had my eye on getting one”) and with a Grand Seiko “Shosho” (light blue wave dial GMT)

What is everyone wearing this week?

I think I may have a watch problem…
In the past month I have somehow managed to purchase or place orders for:
At this point I’m not sure if I’m building a collection or just collecting waiting lists.
Please tell me I’m not the only one who’s gone down a watch rabbit hole and suddenly realized four watches were ordered in a matter of weeks. 😅
Anyone else have a similar story, or should I start attending Watch Collectors Anonymous meetings?

I’ve gotten pretty into Grand Seiko lately. I was in Japan recently and stopped by one of their boutiques, and the dials completely sold me. The craftsmanship in person is on another level. There’s actually a really nice boutique here in Miami too.
Right now I have the Shunbun limited edition (1 of 1,500), and I honestly think it’s one of the most beautiful dials out there. The texture, the light play, and the smooth sweep of the Spring Drive are really, really awesome.
Curious how many other Grand Seiko fans are on here. What are you guys wearing?
Also interested in hearing thoughts on how you guys feel GS stacks up against Rolex, Omega, and the other big “name” brands that tend to get labeled as superior. From a finishing and value standpoint, I think Grand Seiko might offer some of the best bang for your buck in the industry right now.
Would love to hear everyone’s take!

I thought last year’s Hautlence Retrovision ‘85 was really really cool, but my word … this new MB&F H12 Guardian is mind-blowing! 🤯

A nice surprise and under the price hike, my AD called saying my GMT-Master II 126713GRNR in Oystersteel and yellow gold was in. Very pleased. I love the colors and the weight feels perfect. The Bumblebee seems like the apt nickname (although some say Zombie) for this beauty.

I would like some advice. I am thinking of purchasing a Konstantin Chaykin Joker Golden Mask. I was thinking of adding it to my collection that will eventually be handed down to my 2 sons. Any advice about the time piece? Everything I purchase will probably not be sold and will be given to them. So this is going to be an heirloom piece. What do you guys think about the decision? Do you think that’s a good option to go with for my plans of leaving it for my sons?

Hey FTW Collective - I want to celebrate a personal milestone in my life by buying a new watch and I've been a bit frozen on what to buy. I have a collection of neo-vintage omegas, a handful of micro brands in the sub 1K range, and various Casio models.
I've been looking at the VC 56 in blue on a bracelet, older explorer 2 models, Breguet Marines, Gen 2 VC Overseas (various models), various H Moser models, and some Ressence models like the Type 8.
Here are my considerations:
Thank you all for your feedback and input. I look forward to reading your comments.

So I received a call yesterday from my Panerai boutique regarding the new 1733 that was introduced at this year’s W&W. First one they have received and it is mine if I want it. I do like it but not sure if it would be overkill since I have two fairly similar styles already. I have the 2025 Paneristi and will be receiving my prepaid 5218 sometime this summer.
I have already acquired several new watches this year. Part of me thinks it would be foolish to buy this and that I should just enjoy my other recent purchases. Other part says it’s nice, I can afford it so why not.
What would you do. Thoughts and opinions appreciated.
First watch is the one being considered. Other two I already own.

Watches play funny games with our emotions. I've been drawn to the early Omega Constellations visually and as I dug in more they started to speak to me as an homage to my late father who was born in 1956. I've always been keen to a birth year watch from 1956 and upon coming across the early constellations and then learning more about them and the pie pan dials, it just spoke to me. Sounds cheesy but my dad was known for is apple pie in those old aluminim pie pan dishes and something about that watch design, that pie pan dial and that year have had me embar on this holy grail search.
All of this had led me patiently waiting and becoming more impatient and then scrutinizing serial #'s ad settling in on early 15's to "gurantee" 1956 production but then I come across this. A 156 serial with 1958 papers... now I don't even know what to think. What says you and do you have any dealers you would entrust to embark on this journey of sourcing one with?
