I've always thought the Walther P99 had a cool story. Introduced in 1997, it became one of the most iconic polymer pistols of its era and spent years as James Bond's sidearm. Now, with the Final Edition, Walther has officially closed the chapter on one of its most recognizable designs.

The more I researched the P99, the more I realized it wasn't just another polymer pistol competing with Glock, it was Walther doing things that very few manufacturers were willing to do. Even today, almost 30 years later, I still can't think of another production striker-fired pistol that combines a true DA/SA trigger, the Anti-Stress trigger system, and a decocker all in one platform. That's part of what makes this pistol so interesting to me. Sometimes being ahead of your time means the market doesn't fully appreciate what you created until years later.

I picked one up because the factory extras that came with the Final Edition made the deal even sweeter: an OD green Pelican case, OD green frame, challenge coin, two magazines, a foldable green knife, and a holster. At under $600, it was hard to pass up a package like that.

And If I decide to go all in on the James Bond theme...

I'd probably finish it off with a stubby suppressor in either OD Green or a regular black one with a cool camo nylon wrap from RangerWrap for the suppressor. I think that would complete the look while still keeping it tasteful.

My goal isn't to turn it into a race gun or a tactical build. I simply want to make an already iconic pistol a little more unique while enhancing both the shooting and overall range experience, all while staying true to the original P99 design. I think that's the sweet spot. I honestly haven't found another P99 Final Edition online with this combination of upgrades, so I'm excited to see how it all comes together.
