Black PVD / DLC stainless steel watches - cases and or bracelets - GIMMICK or VALUABLE ???

Does the coating hold up to daily use?

Any truth to the hearsay that Rolex will not service a watch with a Black PVD/DLC coating?

Black cases with non-metal straps seem more common...

Anything else to consider?

Any other watch suggestions?
